Methodology

Written by the provider.

The `land` count from the National Weather Service's active alerts endpoint: warnings, watches, advisories and statements in force at the moment of the call, over land only, so the marine count does not swamp it. It is event driven and can move within a minute during severe weather. A count, not a severity: one hurricane warning and one dense fog advisory each count once.
